Hi Gang,
It took almost a year to get Coast Guard permission and find the perfect boat, tide and wind and fly in an install crew but we finally got the Berkeley Reef Nav. Aid sensor installed.
This purpose of this sensor is to help the Coasties in search and rescue as well as giving yacht, ship and ferry traffic have a better feeling for the wind between Point Blunt and the eastern edge of the Olympic Circle.
For kiters and windsurfers it gives you a information about the winds out in the open waters between Brook's Island and the Berkeley Pier and well as the Albany Bulb area.
Another big use is in monitoring the wind curve that determines whether it will be a better day towards Berkeley or towards Pt. Isabel.
A big shout out for Stuart Hill who did the Weatherflow install of this tricky to approach Nav. Aid.
