So, can we enforce the rule, that no rigging in the launch area is allowed? Every one has to do sumner lunch? Also, how about sumner landing - you land, roll lines and move the kite to the grass area right away. Think how empty launch area will become.

this to me seems like the most efficient idea indeed.alexglebov wrote:So, can we enforce the rule, that no rigging in the launch area is allowed? Every one has to do sumner lunch? yes, people will get annoyed to have to unroll their lines in the grass, then roll them back once attached to the kite only to unroll them in the launching zone. but if we want to keep the launch/landing area empty it's the best thing to do.
I would agree with what has been said before on this thread though: the issue is maybe related to 30% of beginners, the 70% left are intermediate kiters who don't really care.

Re: Off to a bad start already
We can't enforce the " rules "we have now.
forcing beginners to learn a new way to launch doesn't seem like a good idea to me
The beauty of the sumner launched is it works in a crowded area
some of us should start using it and beginners will pick it up
Hell maybe some bona fide Kiter's will start using it !

Hey Charlie I remember you back in the day being a drill Sargent in Alameda. What Happened. Yelling, getting in peoples faces, and laying the pipe down on those not following the rules. If you could bring that back on the weekends for a while not solving the problem it will make a significant improvement.

Re: Off to a bad start already
Well after meny years of trying to police the beach on the weekends
I quit kiting on the weekends and I just kite during the week,
I had a chance to talk to jessie
He told me the Shaq expansion and remodel is going to take over west of theShower area
So pumping up there and even stacking there or even landing there will be a problem
So any one reading this should just try and use As little space as you need ,to pump up rig up and launch and get off the beach
Kites left Unattended in the luanch area will be moved off to the grass stacking area for parking

The benchs are gone
So now there is no place to dump your stuFf
Please if you want it put it in your car before you go out on the water ,don’t leave it in the launch don’t leave it up against the building

Re: Off to a bad start already
As for landing, on weekends, EVERYONE needs to roll up their lines after they land and move their kite AWAY from Launch/landing areas. This is normal procedure. Leaving your lines out, and leaving your kite in the way of others trying to launch makes you a jerk, and next thing you know your kite will be moved out of the way by others.
Free your mind and your azz will follow. GC
