Is it safe to drive to la ventana

I was thinking of driving my campervan to la ventana and was wondering if it is safe and what route to take from n cal

My brother just did it ... he seemed to feel fine about it, but i believe he only travelled during the day.

yup, that's what we did with my friend (who used to do the drive twice a year): safe travel as long as we only drove during the day. It's a little nerve wrecking though: watch out for cows, goats, speed bumps (tope) and semi truck driving waaaaaaay to fast on a small road.
Landscape is gorgeous though.

I am Red Elements Andy's brother and I approve of his message. It was a mellow trip and I never felt unsafe. Be aware that there is some civil unrest and fuel shortages going on right now. Subscribe to the Facebook group Talk Baja and follow news of the "gasolizano". Know that you will be travelling to a country very different from the U.S.A. Do your homework and act accordingly. Discover Baja and Vagabundos are good resources.
