Hey Bros,
Just took a lesson and got my new kite and ready to tear up the beach. Unfortunately yesterday I lost it into the trees next to the Shack in Alameda. Anyone know how I can get it out down?

Honestly, i would hire a cherry picker for an hour. Climbing that tree without hurting yourself, and without the branches tugging and tearing the canopy would be tough without a solid/stable platform.

We need to be proactive about getting the kite out of there before the city notices and puts an end to kiting at Crown if we're gonna keep tossing our kites up there.

We know it's not going to just fall out of the tree, but give it a few months/years, etc it's going to become a hazard to someone. It'll fall out just as a car is driving under and creating a very good chance of an accident.

There should be some form of kiter accountability on lose equipment that can pose as potential threat to access and safety. I do hope the kiter who did this will own up to his/her mistake and try to get the equipment down.

Maybe hire a tree trimmer to pull the kite down?

This might be a topic that can be brought up at the upcoming Alameda meeting.

How high is the kite ?
If it's any use, and if someone has time, I can lend my ladder.

Might come off as a bit of an ass for this next bit but stuff like this can really jepordize access for us all.

1. You should work on making sure your leash is attached to your kite/ launching skills first...yes I saw it happen...I'm sure Jane and Rebeca would be more than happy to have a launching lesson with you.
2. I know the fire department has helped out before getting kits out of that tree.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was assuming schwede was being cheeky when he implied that the kite was his.
The tree looks pretty solid, looks like a good climber could free the kite.

Was thinking the same thing.

I was joking when I wrote this, I was just driving by and I saw the Kite in the Tree. NorcalNomad sounds like you may know or at least recognize who the person is and I am sure Boardsports does also. The person should be 100% responsible for paying to get that kite out of tree before it ends up in the street or on top of some pedestrian. It is probably 50 feet in the air so it is going to take a cherry picker or the fire department to get it down. I would say whoever gets the kite down should gets ownership of the kite. I think the bar is at least salvageable for a couple hundred bucks.
