scary debris at 3rd lower

I was kiting yesterday at the lower at 3rd in super low tide. There is a really scary peace of debris sticking out of the mud. Its a big log with a scary huge nail sticking out (like 15 inches or something). Problem is: it sticks out at low tide, otherwise it will be hidden below the water. Its really scary. Any body have an idea what we could do? Its right at the lower where we like to kite!

I think we need to put a buoy until we can remove it. Maybe, schedule a time on a weekend with a low tide to remove it.

Winch with long enough rope should really help or at least hammer to bend the nail.

I don't think a hammer would work, the nail is huge. Not even sure I should call it a nail, I just don't have a better word to describe it... I think best would be to try to pull the whole thing out. Not sure how heavy/stuck the whole thing is

Would a more accurate description be a spike? Like for a railroad spike?

I couldn't see it today but if it's big, we might be better of floating it and dragging it rather than trying to carry it.

It was at the North end a month ago. I would do as Sonny suggested and add a buoy until it moves. I don't think it will be easy to remove from the water.

yeah, its more like a long spike, rather than just a nail. You would not be able to bend it with a hammer I think. I agree we should put a buoy for now, and then see if/how we can move it. Its only visible in a very low tide

I checked again that scary thing while kiting yesterday. We need to saw that impaler asap!!! Then remove that big debris maybe with a jetski...
Fyi it is about 25 yards south of the southest point of the lower Beach and 15 yards out of the jumping point (regulars should understand ;-))

it been floating around 3rd for a while now. It looks like a part of a dock with the huge steel rod sticking out by 20-30 inches. The rpobelm now is that only the steel rod sticks out on the wood is not visible any more.
Let mark it first and the pull it out.
