Waddell on Sunday

I saw that it was pretty crowded at Scotts and telephoto lenses were out in full force. Hopefully a few videos will surface :)

This is the video from Waddell which had pretty decent waves and a lot fewer people.

Edit: for the technically inclined. The video was shot in 1440 at 48fps and then was stretched and cropped to 1080p 30fps

It was great fun until I dropped the kite and had to swim in through 8-10ft break zone. The stupid thing could only launch inverted, so I decided to body drag to shore. I ended up being hit by a largish wave. Even flying the kite to the opposite side of the wave didn't help much (inverted kite flies like shit and has very reduced pull). I was very glad that I was wearing my Dakine impact vest that doubles up as a light weight flotation jacket. So I highly recommend extra flotation on largish days.

Both Youtube and Vimeo are really cracking down on using copyrighted music in videos since I last uploaded a video a few months back. Doesn't seem to be a way to pay for the music you want in your video, you have to select from their "library", which is really, really just awful.

On a positive note, both platforms now allow you the option of playing the video at 720 and 1080p, HD, however playback on a mobile device stills seems spotty.

Don't know how long this will play before it is shut down:

That was a pretty lazy long wave :)

I think on youtube you can have copyrighted music, but that video can only be seen on youtube (i.e. no embedded vids). I have been meaning to take a look at this https://creativecommons.org/legalmusicforvideos to see if there are decent music tracks covered under CC license.

As far as mobile device playback is concerned. My nexus5 plays 1080p vimeo videos pretty well. I think it highly depends on the mobile device.

OMG, what is that? There is this whole bizarro alternative world of free music. It's like the Island of Misfit Toys for music. My ears are bleeding.
