Kitesurfing Kiteboarding instruction - Needed

Post by FoolFully » Sun Aug 10, 2014 3:31 am

On Craigslist at http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tlg/4611750453.html

I would like personal instruction to learn kitesurfing. I've taken a 3 hour intro class with body dragging and just purchased my own gear. I would like to start next week but only feel comfortable paying the amount I make at my job - no $100 per hour and since I have my own gear this should be reasonable. I am available at noon on Tuesday 8/12, all day Wednesday 8/13 and all day Thursday 8/14. I want to stay at East Bay and want to learn as much as possible in all 3 days so you can earn $500 if you want. I am age 36, 5'8", 160lbs and have 12m freeride kite with 144 board. I also have 3m Hydra and 2m B2 Slingshot trainer kites.

So wait, the guy is willing to spend $500 but doesn't want to take regular lessons? Wtf?
He would be better off taking a 3h water lesson, only pay $300 and save $200 and then try to make friends to go out with...
What an idiot...

I think Helm of Sun valley or kite415 or KGB kite or Tony at 3rd ave all have a package around $450 for 6 hours which could be spread over 3 days which is the same as you would want to spend anyway. What you need now is to learn how to water start which is the greatest hurdle into kitesurfing.

Anyway, my suggestion is to get instruction from one of these bay area instructor and ask to taylor your lessions according to your need.

So $500 divided by 2.5 days at $20 per hour equals 10 hours per day. Seems like a pretty good deal to me if you just want to hangout in the water and get paid.

Here's a kitesurfing job in San Rafael but the pay is only $12/hr or more for the experienced.

I really hope your medical bill deductible will be less than what you will be saving by not taking a proper lessons.

$500 is not worth it if the guy gets injured and the "instructor" has no insurance.
