Hmm I wonder if that footage was a helicopter or drone?

More and more drones these days....saw one the other day at Ocean Beach.

I don't suppose you guys followed the "Take back the Bay" thing that went down in Socal at Lunada Bay......the idea was to swarm the localized surf spot and overwhelm the locals (I grew up down there and think any localism is hypocritical but these guys have long gone way over the top). Here's their take on drones:

I wonder how long it'll be before somebody's UAV gets taken down while filming kites.......

These things are great.....can't wait til the local police start using them to issue jaywalking tickets......?

Got to see that day in person. I heard they were filming Point Break 2. There was a grip truck, that black helicopter, drones & others. The drones were able to go in tight without all the noise & rotorwash that the helicopters created. I heard the drones can handle up to 20mph.

There were only a handful of guys out. One guy wearing red was killing it, going for everything, sitting way deeper than everyone. Don't know who he was but he was head & shoulders above the rest. He was getting barreled & paying the price. Saw 2 guys have 2-wave hold downs in which their boards didn't even surface before they were hit by the second wave - that's deep!!!

A few days before there were 40+ guys out & it looked like most of them weren't really trying to go for reals. Could've been some movie double's or something. They were far over on the shoulder & when they paddled, you could tell they weren't going full gas & going for it.

Nevertheless it was pretty cool to see;)

You know a spot is crowded when there's a drone snaking your wave
