Bay Area Kiteboarding Party/Club Sherman 2012, July 21

Hello everyone,

So here we are, it's about that time again. Last year we set out with the best intentions to pull off a long-overdue party, but it didn't really work out, so we're back to try again this year. As many of you who have for some time been a part of the kiteboarding community here in the bay area, we've pulled off some pretty fun and memorable parties. We'd like to do it again.

In addition to BAK having had some pretty good parties, for most of you, one name would come to mind when it comes to BBQ's. If you said "Maui Mike", you're right. In this case, Maui Mike has been the one to initiate this to happen with his great generosity and insistence on hosting a Bay Area Kiteboarding BBQ at Sherman Island this summer. So you get the best of both worlds!

Per Maui Mike's wishes, the party is a Bay Area Kiteboarding.com benefit. Tickets will be available for the bbq/meal for a nominal fee. All proceeds go to pay for the expenses of the party itself (food, equipment rental, etc.) and any proceeds left will continue to fund the site.

What would Trevor do?

Well, we will play a few of their track for sure, but imagine if Trevor & Co. came out and played?

I'll see if they can make it for a late night "Blue Bus/Orange Squid" set.

So we we were spreading the word around the island today and everybody's in, lots of people who have some great things to add and contribute. This will be a real community celebration to capture the fun, spirit and stoke of our sport and everyone in it. We will be getting a permit to keep it all legit and avoid any potential issues. The BBQ by Maui Mike will be very well done and it looks like we will be able to match the "old days" to at least meet or exceed the visual and audio strength we presented at the other parties.

We'll post more info here with any updates. For the uninitiated, or new to the community, here's some flyers from some of our past events (yes, its been a while...)

Ollie - I for one am beyond excited for this community event.

If anyone has a projector that can hook up to a mac, please let me know....I plan to document the day in photos and have a slide show ready....it would be cool to do a slide show of the days action as we enjoy the festivities.

Slawek has a projector and will be bringing it out, he runs mac as well so should be able to hook up. Might be good for you to chat him up about it next time you see him up there before the event weekend...

I get my ears done on the 20th. Can't get in the water for 3 weeks. Super bummed that I'll miss the party.

You don't need to get in the water to party!

That's very true. Not sure if I could bear to be at sherm and not ride!! If I'm feeling better I might come up just to hang out and party!
