So is it done then. I had a good laugh. Everyone can throw down except Ollie because he said that he wouldn't.
Too late Ollie you can't take it back.

Well, I like reading it when I get to this boring desk in the morning..

you guys are da best....think Ollie will keep his committment? I'll put down $$ to say NO WAY ....at least for the duration of the season...

On the other side...Carl is right that a main concern on the launch should be if there are kids in the water at the launch...gots to be pretty careful getting off of the beach...

Check Yourself Before You Wreckedy Wreck Yourself

I think that another main concern is: Are riders and their kites maintaining a safe distance between themselves and people who are on the beach?..many of them children, and others who may be visiting and are also (like our children) unaware of how much power is generated when something goes wrong. There have been many fatalities where an expert screws up too close to land and dies. This is an opportunity to learn from past tragedies, to respect the lives of ourselves and others, and to be a good example for those who are just entering the sport. Sooner or later, someone who needs to "show off", is going to create big problems for themselves and/or someone else. Many toddlers, including mine, are entering the scene and one less hazard at an already sketchy launch can't be a bad thing! :?

common sense

Post by zgur » Fri Aug 11, 2006 10:44 am

Great thread!!!!

Comes down to responsibility, and being aware of the risks you are willing to deal with.....no stupid orange bouy is goig to change anyone's behavior.....Bob, I'm w/you on the $20 bet ;-)

When my kid is in the area, I try to be extra aware of who/what is going on. It's my job to protect him, no someone elses. I am aware of the risks, and adjust my behavior accordingly. I don't expenct others to change to make my life more easy.....buy hey, it's a frame of reference thing.....same with driving - I don't yell at drunk/fast drivers, just give them plenty of space....

For those who kite close, it's their choice too, they just need to be ready to sack up to the consequences if something goes down that is their responsibility. No more friging rules please!!!!......Some of the folks are too young to do that - Alex - or are not concious of the extra risk they are assuming.....If your run away kite wraps up my son or daughter, you will have a real hazzard on your hands when you make it to the beach........ :-x

The bouys suck!!! They are just 1 more hazzard to deal with. Let's all grow up and take on the resposibilities of our actions......Just my $.02.

lets go kiting, it's blowing.

Signed, the toothless one :P

Amen Brotha!

I'll be there in the morning. Save me a few of those nice, smooth ramps inside the bouys alright.

Dude, where was everyone this afternoon? There was more than enough room inside the buoys for powered and huge, unhooked tricks. I took Alex's little Buzz board out for a minute and when I came into the beach super hot, hit the crap out of one of those waves on the inside. That Buzz board throws insane spray but never stops sliding. I wound up sliding in to the beach on my chest...man would have been cool if some of you were there to see that.
