rapture or rage II???
I'm up here in Portland and fly the Gorge 90% of the time...the windwing kites seem perfect for our gusty conditions (similar to you guys down in the Bay I've heard)...anyway...I hear great things about the rage II in terms of stability and many similar things about the Rapture, for the exception that you have more technical considerations, especially when jumping...so, does the Rapture have more range, more upwind ability, more safety?... Is that the short of it or would the Rage II be just as good an investment? I'm looking to stay put with this purchase a couple of years at the least! Thanks much in advance for any input.

The Rage II and Rapture are comparable on range and safety, with the Rapture having a slight upwind advantage. You can't go wrong with either. The Rage II's are really fun because they all the perfect all-around kite - you can do anything with them and they're really stable and smooth.guest from ptown wrote:I'm up here in Portland and fly the Gorge 90% of the time...the windwing kites seem perfect for our gusty conditions (similar to you guys down in the Bay I've heard)...anyway...I hear great things about the rage II in terms of stability and many similar things about the Rapture, for the exception that you have more technical considerations, especially when jumping...so, does the Rapture have more range, more upwind ability, more safety?... Hope this helps,

Hmm, tricky question really, but given that you already have a 10m and 17m, the 14m Rage II or Outrage would fit right in the middle. Have you considered the Outrage 14? It's a powerful, beasty kite with huge air and hangtime. Might be fun to shake things up in your quiver a bit. but, then again, the Rage II in 14m would give you more range and able to withstand a bit more wind until you need to downsize to the 10m.wytcap wrote:I am also from Portland, I have got a new Rage II 10m and 17M, I have a 04 SS fuel 13m and am going to replace it, would the Rage II 12m be the kite????

Ollie,
I've used my Rage II 14M now on several days at SI that were just as you predicted -- too light at the start for 12m but plenty of power on the 14. Yesterday, I got to kite on butter for 1/2 hr before the wind came up enough for the 12s to launch. By then, the tide had changed and it was ebbing hard. I finally came in, 2 hours later, after using up all my sheeting, overpowered but not so much that I wasn't able to walk out of the water (had some help once I got on the beach, though).
Five minutes later, another guy came screaming into the beach on a SS 11 and literally flew out of the water. I grabbed him when he hit the beach, just before another gust jacked his kite. Others were putting up 10s and 8s.
Thanks for the recommendation.
