how may of the thousands of kitesurfers have been attached out there over the years? None that I'm aware of. Seems like an irrational fear some of you have.

But windsurfers, kayakers, and surfers have been attacked. All of them were moving slow or in the water at the time of attack. I suspect your odds of getting hit go way up when you are body dragging - looking like an injured baby seal.

Hmmm... rather than singing, what about bringing the guy his board?

Seems like a missed opportunity... you're parked right there, overhearing their conversation, which obviously indicates they're in need of some 'training'. As a "local", what about providing some info about the spot, things to watch out for (other locals!), the wave rotation, etc., etc., etc.?

Or does all the good stewardship and camaraderie go out the window because we're at the coast and now we're behaving like surfers?

Yeah, I kept telling my kids that when they were young but they weren't buying it. The fact that their uncle was attacked by a great white might have had something to do with it. I mean, jeez he almost got eaten just that one time, and how many times has he been in the water?

Odds of getting killed by a shark are low, but they're there. It's a factor even if there are only a few attacks on the west coast each year. Score is humans 8,000,0000 and counting, while sharks just get like 12 people a year worldwide.

My brother said he got a spooky feeling just before the shark ate his surfboard from underneath him. Other people have mentioned that same feeling before they were attacked. If you're in the water, you're ahead to just relax and have fun (why go out otherwise?) but if you do get that feeling, don't ignore it.

Of course if you're body dragging at Waddell and you get that funny feeling, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.

I really hate it when my butt tingles like that.

In fact, the more people that are out there, the less chance I have of getting chomped. Is that glass half full or what??????
