I had pretty much the same symptoms you describe when I flew the 06 Rhinos and the thing that I believe cured it for me was switching to a different kite. I suppose you can do all sorts of things in order to remedy the pain but maybe a better approach would be to change the behavior that's causing it.

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
In addition to having the inner arm pain (which thankfully has recently subsided) I’ve noticed that my right elbow has been popping occasionally when I straighten my arm. I’ve heard that the popping is caused by gases escaping the joint or ligaments “snapping” into another position. Either way, my elbow never did that before the pain started, so is this something to be worried about :?:

Hi mephastopholes,
I wouldn't be too worried about it as long as there is no pain associated with it. Some of us just "pop" and "crack" a bit more than others. And those reasons given are a few of the reasons for popping.....nitrogen gas release, ligaments or bones adjusting/rubbing. If it has just come after your initial arm pain, it is possible you have a muscle flexibility/strength imbalance. This may cause the bones/ligaments to rub against each other in a non-optimal way. Might be soft tissue restrictions or may be that some muscles are stronger/weaker than opposing ones.
But again, if it is not causing pain at this time, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Though I'm not a doctor and don't want to counsel as one....if it is bothering you enough you can always consult a MD.
And that's all I have to say about that (for now).

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
Teej, thanks for the insight. Its more discomfort than pain when it pops and as tough as it to convince myself to sit it out when there's even the slightest breeze, it seems like rest (or the RICE dealio) is the way to go.
In regards to the doctor comment; I don't know; the last time I saw a doctor about a "sports" related issue (debilitating migraine caliber headaches), they shrugged and told me to drink more Gatorade. Later found out from a fellow kiteboarder who had similar issues that they were tension headaches caused by neck, shoulder and back muscles tensed up from long mountain bike rides. Not trying to knock the docs out there, its just valuable to get opinions form people that do the same activity as you.
thx again

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
Had the pain, cortisone shot in the elbow (solved the lack of motion and pain but couldn't kite for a month) all that and I still can't quite straighten it out after a year....what worked is like max says, loosen the grip on the bar and pilot with a more POSITIVE Steering method (like steering a motorcycle, push right to go left and visa versa) The kite is way more responsive  and the nerves and muscles in the forearm/upper back don't end up being overly tensed up from the repetitive motion of tensing up and pulling on the bar to pilot the kite. :?:

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
Hi I've seen a PT about this same ache. It's the most annoying ache in my opinion. Physical Therapist says it's from muscle over use. He prescribed
1. Ice pack everyday while watching tv.
2. Avoid use of the affected arm.
3. 2 WEEKS after the above.
Strength training using Finger exerciser ( old school spring or the kind you get from guitar stores)
I've been pain free for 4 months.

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
Hello James,
I think "Tianna" Yuri's wife is a PT?? I was jogging the other day and she drove by and I told her I back rolled my back... she said I should only be walking?? I kept running and till I fell face first and cut up my hands trying to break the fall!!.. it took everything I had to get back home.
When I got back home my wife Pamela told me that a PT will know what or when to do more than a doc as they are the ones that they send you to when the x-ray is nagative meaning no brokin' bones but ya still can't walk or kite till they work there magic on Hello brokin butt.

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
Golfer's elbow can be an absolute nightmare and is pretty common in Kiteboarding and water skiing. I found this on a water ski forum and it is simple and works (and costs essentially nothing). the exercises are called flexbar exercises and the link below has the instructions and a video demo. If you are getting a little older like me you are used to the usual aches and pains and it is OK as long as they go away. My golfers elbow was pretty persistent but is sorted now thanks to this.

Re: Inner forearm/elbow pain?
they have found that Botox (Botulinum toxin) injected into elbow helps alleviate symptoms.......... Next time I do my forehead i'll squeeze a bit into my cubit.
