I'm going to tell you what i think you should look for in a board. and then you can make your own decisions.

1. get something around a 138 x 42 in size.
2. get something with a wood core (these tend to flex better and pop better)
3. get something with ROCKER

carving and popping and easy on the knees = rocker. PM me or any of the other reps...and we'd be glad to help you out.
Adam is right about the fact that everyone has brand allegiances. So here is my 2 cents. As a 225lb guy with 2 repaired Knees, I ride the Litewave Spirit 137x44 and it is easy on the knees!
The board has all the features you are asking for and the size is perfect for bigger guys like you and me. Let me know if you want to demo 1. I am a dealer for litewave and can get a board to you real quick.

I ride a LF Recoil 136. My knees are kinda bad to begin with, but if I really push myself my knees are shot after a 2 hour session. Just curious if anyone has experience with the Recoils and how much of a better experience I would have upgrading to one of the boards mentioned in this thread...

Oh yeah, the Recoil is a great freestyle board, but it's designed to be stiff and flat, so you can blast upwind and get huge pop. not the best for people with sore knees. Take a look at the Influence in the LF line. a few folks are riding the 2010 influence at 3rd these days, it's got quite a bit of flex and a lot more rocker.

I'm concidering 135 flx 2009, or a poison 2010. I really want to see the blunt 135. I'm not sure why I just can't make up my mind. I think I need some water time on what ever I can get hands on.

both the underground and the poison are still really flat freestyle boards. they have flex, but in my opinion, flex doesn't seem to help as much as rocker...they're great boards, don't get me wrong, but i'm not convinced they will fix your specific concern. I know RRD has some other boards (like the placebo) that are more what you're looking for.

the blunt is a sweet board, I know a lot of people like it, and if you get it in the bigger size I bet it would work well for ya.

oh, and Yuri, I think you should try rockered boards again. it just takes some getting used to, and in addition, it's amazing how a tiny change in rocker changes everything. I've got two boards that I laid side by side (LF Kaos 136 and LF Influence 138) and they look almost exactly the same (except the influence has a few mm more rocker) but the ride is like night and day...

Now you've gone and made me curious--I never thought of the FLX as a "flat board", so I put my 2009 UG FLX 35 next to my 2008 Cabrinha custom 133 (definitely a wakestyle board). The UG FLX has 3 cm of rocker, the cab custom 5.2 cm. They definitely ride very differently, though neither has given me knee problems (and I am prone to sore knees). FWIW I use LF comp straps and pads on both. I'd like to try the Litewave laceups too.

you might be right, I don't know the rocker measurements on other "flat" boards...

how did you measure it? just put it on a table and measure the height of the tip?

Yep, and I'll cheerfully acknowledge that unstressed rocker measurement doesn't mean much. One anecdote on the FLX, I've had a few landings where I came down too hard on the back foot and got bounced back up a few feet. Was like, WTF???... oh, cool. Never happened with the cab custom, though the cab's much easier to huck multiple linked jumps (just danglys).

What I am about to tell you might not help you much but everything is a give and take, if it does 1 thing well it lacks in other areas. Point is stop trying to get a board that will at best do everything okay and sell your old board and buy 2 boards at opposite ends meaning each board will do what its designed for great.
BTW, I have all the boards mentioned in demo. Lunacy 2010, Misfit 2010 and the Mako 140.

Nice answer from adamrod. just demo them when you get a chance. His rocker theory is valid IMO..see if you can go to the Pismo expo or any other expo and ask to try the boards. Although I must admit 20 minutes with any product is still not a fair assessment of that product.

Thank you for all the input.
I thought that rocker hindered up wind momentum?
I'm ready to demo a board, but the wind gods have not been co operating.
