..seems like Ryan had a nice send off...
Yes I'd say it was very peacefull and a little surprising..
Evan came to a standstill, he lowered hit kite to a wing-tip on the surface.
He carefully remove the bag and lowered his head in silent prayer. As he poured the ash into the water it became very still. I was about 25 feet away, another rider was stopped nearby. The ash just slipped away into the water and disapppeared. Evan lifted his head and looked around and I was thinking, he's gone.. Suddenly the water boiled upward and this hugh white cloud blossemed up around us.
Ryan was free, his path pointed to the sea and disappeared.

Warm winds,
Greg

This is proof that we are all family. A lot of us will most likely know eachother until the day we pass. A sport that brings people together beyond friendship is nothing short of spiritual.

Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday. Erin, thank you for the photos I will be sure to pass them on. And Greg, thank you for the amazing account of the release. I want to give Evan a very special thank you for helping me coordinate everything and releasing Ryan's ashes into the bay. You helped make the day special, and I couldn't have done it without your help.

Everyone was so happy and loved the send off. My favorite moment was as you all were going out you lined up...it was so beautiful to see so many colorful kites coming together. What an amazing community you are all a part of!

Take care and enjoy the waves, and as you see pelicans flying remember Ryan...

Thanks, Meghan

Ryan is one of my best friends, and I just wanted to jump on and thank you all for your enthusiastic and heartfelt show of support. Ryan talked about all of you in such high regards, knowing Ryan that is good enough for me, but seeing you all out there on Sunday meant a lot to me as I'm sure it did to everyone! If you met Ryan, he treated you like family. And while I am not a kite surfer - you all will always be family because of what you did for him! It was a spectacular send off that I will never forget!

Greg - Your account of the event was spectacular. I have sent it to no less than 100 of Ryan's friends/family, and it brought tears to all of our eyes! Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Evan, for taking Ryan on his last ride. There is certainly no
where he would rather have been for his last journey on earth. I can't thank you enough.
