Panzer,
The 12m Crossbow is a great kite, and if its not in Tarifa, what can I say, they haven't discovered it yet.
Your argument is like saying that Champagne is no good since it never made it big in the US and Coke sales are much higher.
With my 12m I can kite and stay upwind in 9mph winds, with a range up to 30mph. I only own ONE kite now - it never gives me troubles - and with over 150 hours on mine, it still looks almost new.
This season I tried the Contras (several sizes), the Vegas, the Slingshots, and even a Best. So I am not naive about other models.
The 5th line killed the good while trying to achieve the excellent. And the bow kites solved the problem the 5th line was trying to solve (easy launches), with the bridle - a more elegant solution in my opinion. The bow also gave us the range and safety that C kites are yet to offer.
I have seen hang-giding wings, sailplane wings, and paraglider wings evolve over the years. I am now seeing the evolution of kites. I believe the bow kites are here to stay and will evolve in the direction of paraglider wings, which will allow us great and very controllable hang time.
Regards.

Regarding the Vegas manual, it says nothing about the fifth line getting twisted, however, the chicken loop on the bar apparently does swivel -- it just doesn't do it under heavy load. So you can manually unspin your lines at the CL, but it might take a while.
Dewey's not usually in such a bad mood. I think it's been a while since he got some...kiting, that is.
Bow kites double plus ungood. (Sorry, geeky joke)

It says 10M, but it's really a 9.

Listen, I wasn¥t trying to make an argument, just pointing out my experience. If you think the design is great and it satisfies your needs then by all means, it is your choice. For me, personally, and it appears, a lot of really good riders in Tarifa, the bow is not the answer. Why? Maybe because of the raw, spank your bottom power, maybe because of old habbits or possibly because of a stubburn character. Truthfully, I can¥t speak for everyone, but for me doing a kiteloop on a bow feels like cheating because you don¥t really feel the cranking when you pull the trigger. When I¥m done enjoying the traits that my kites provide either because of emerging technology or old age, I am sure I¥ll change my mind, until then I and a lot of people out there will stay with what we have. My only complaint is that I don¥t care to hear an opinion beaten to death 3K times over, it¥s childish. Everyone has their reasons for having what they like and for those reasons we get to see each other on the beach and enjoy eachother¥s company.

I think this exchange has been both healthy and instructive for all. We do not have to agree on technicalities. And by not doing so, we learn and take the sport to a new level.
Today it¥s about 5th lines, tomorrow we¥ll talk about bars, and another as to why kites today don¥t use wingtips...
And when the wind is blowing, we¥ll be all out there for another magical session, with whatever kite we have at the time. But in the evening, after the wind dies, we¥ll sit down around the fire and think about how we can make our tools better for what we are trying to achieve. Remember the scene in 2001 a Space Odyssey when the ape throws the bone in the air, and in slow motion Stanley Kubrick transitions to a space station in orbit around our planet?
We are doing the same here.
Bulldog - throw us another bone!
