I'll join the challenge....12m or 14m Bow and a glide...(just sold my 12m bow though..) I'd even attempt to put it up against Pipe's 25m....

Sounds like a good event.... Alameda Light Wind Challenge...

If Leo is at a handicap at 175.... I am at a triple handicap at my 225 weight...

Or we could just watch paint dry. Yawn. At least you won't have to worry about the parking lot or launch being too crowded that day.

lightwind kiting, while not as high enengy as 20mph+ requires more skill and finesse, and is just as exciting as regular old windsurfinging in my book...

This C vs Bow this is stupid. Can't you just be stoked on your gear without putting down other's gear down. Maybe you're light years ahead of the rest of us and can kite in a nat's fart, but other than you who cares? I was stoked to hear about Andy kiting and having fun in Alameda in the 10 mph range, but do you have to take it to the "I'm better than you"? You can kite while we watch, so just have fun.

A gnats fart!

we could do 10 foot jumps in that!

Try, well ok, I can't think of anything thats lighter wind than a gnats fart. Any bow kiters know of any insects smaller than a gnat?

Dewey...

This isn't a pissing match or I am better than you....

it is however a discussion on the new innovations in kiteboarding that is making things possible that never were before. No one should be upset by a new discovery. If a friendy competition arrises from the discussion, I don't think there is any harm in that....

In the racing series, people are always talking about which board or kite or technique will get them upwind and downwind faster. Why can't this be a discussion about how to kite in lighwinds better without someone getting upset?

Anyhow, If I offended anyone by saying that big kites are dead.. I retract that statement and modify it by saying that big kites are no longer needed by me... The last two years I spend thousands on a 16.5, 18, 19, and 19.5m kites looking for an alameda solution.... All I am saying is save your money ...

Hey Andy,

Was your big kite soaked in rain water on Sunday like mine was? The added weight really kills performance.

It was wet and it DID noticably affect performance.

Maybe big wet kites have more of a performance loss than any other kite... makes sense... big mass of wet fabric... vs smaller mass or wet fabric.... When the hellfish was supposedly coming out, they were claiming the cuban fiber wouldn't soak any water and would make the kite perform well wet or dry...unlike a nylon kite....
