Re: Nasty accident at 3rd Ave upper today - guy got airlifte
Hmm wonder if Sutter Alta Bates Summit has a helipad? On a day like Friday I bet a rooftop hospital landing might even come with a little bit of risk - wonder if they actually have to route to somewhere wind shadowed or ground level land-able? I hope he wasn't seriously injured :[
I reminded a few people at Alameda that the jump from 10 mph to 20 mph is much less intense than the jump from 20 to 30 mph. Wind force has exponential relationship to velocity. Once the wind goes above 25mph you'll be surprised how small of a kite you can get by with.
"There are some widespread misconceptions about the relationship between the wind’s velocity and the force it is able to exert. Doubling the wind velocity quadruples the air’s potential force upon a surface that it strikes at right angles. Early on in my teaching career it became quite apparent to me that most people assume that doubling the velocity simply doubles the force. But that is far from true. For example, a 110 mph wind has 4 times the potential force of a 55 mph wind!"

I got reminded on Friday of the FIELD OF ROCKS between the two buoys outside the launch at Alameda. I fell around that area and every direction I seemed to move in was rock shard to the foot or leg one after the other. It was definitely one painful drag to back to my board!
Spring-time is coming and I'm sure we're going to be seeing more of those nuker days - Stay safe everybody! Cheers

Yep, that was it. There were bazillions of people taking photos. I felt bad taking one myself, would have been smart.

My wife's an ER charge nurse at Kaiser Santa Clara and they have a heliport there. I'll ask if she has any ideas on where he might have been taken.

Ok, talked to Heliport at Stanford, guys said they cannot disclose anything, but judging from location they said it must be Stanford.
Then bounced through Stanford admissions, guest services and then to guest services manager.
So what manager offered - I left my information and they will talk to higher managers and see if they can pass the info to patient or give me a call back with information if they can.
Then they gave me call back to get more info on when it happen, that's it for now.
Still unsure if he is at Stanford, but I do not think there is anything more can be done at this level. Unless SFBA or another official entity will try to request information.

Thanks Victor. I think Stanford passing your info to the patient or family should be safe for them to do and leave it to the patient/family to call us back. It would be great to put this issue to a rest. It hurts all of us when one of us get's hurt so bad.
It would be also interesting if anyone talks to the Golf course guys and see if the car left the parking lot, at least we know the poor soul has some relatives.

My wife guessed SF General or Stanford, so sounds like you're on the right track. Keeping fingers crossed and hopes up...
