+1 for the rubbermaid bin... always rinse your lines with fresh water, they will last longer.. and be easier to rig. Remember some of these guys on the forum get new gear every year.... meaning that old gear they sold you hasn't been RINSED every time...? wtf!!! IUYT Ya'All need to start rinsing your shit! and stop peeing it your suit, nasty...

Aaaaaa, you've been kiting over a decade, and haven't learned salt water
is extremely corrosive, and damages basically everything.
Yeah,i call these guys out, ride new gear every season,so why rinse?

when you sell your stuff at the end of the season...
and a buyer asks "do you take care of your gear...say no,i don't.

3rd has some of the worst water quality in the bay,not rinsing your wetsuit?
thats just gross.
peace,unity,love & havin' fun.

Along with other discussions:

Wash your bar and lines after riding in salt water. Wrap you lines on your bar and rinse them off with fresh water. Salt will crystallize creating a sharp and abrasive surface that will reduce the lines life

Not to mention bars have metal screws, berrings, and rings that will rust after time. It would be a tough argument to say that it doesn't make em last longer.

Well, some of us have found the following routine very workable at 3rd:
1) land at the lower launch after avoiding the crazies in the mosh pit
2) get your kite off the "beach" as quickly as possible placing it in front of the peanut gallery without obstructing their view
3) have a few beers or whatever, shot the shit, and join in on the peanut gallery critiques
4) when you've had a sufficient dose of #4 or it gets dark, leave
5) hopefully you remembered to pick up all your gear
6) if you've failed at #5, hope that sonny has retrieved your gear
7) if you succeeded with #6, get sonny a case of coke; he dorsn't drink
8) if you failed at #6, make a post on iKitesurf And check craigslist
Process has worked well for many over the years

Buy a secondary heavy-duty shower curtain rod and mount it high in the center of your shower / tub. Hang your gear to dry in the shower with a window open and /or fan on for a few hours.

N.B. This method will only work if you are single, or (if you're a guy) have a gf / wife who is also a kiter, and understands the need for your kiting gear to occupy the bathroom for a day or so.

I haven't broken lines in a while, but when I did I'm pretty sure it wasn't the salt that did it.
