This happens to me all the time. I can't even really go two sessions so I pretty much tighten my screws before every session.
FYI the first time my strap popped on the water I did just as you did - body dragged in. But actually it's not terribly hard to ride without the strap. Try it next time it happens - you might be surprised - it's not as hard as you might think.

Thanks guys, looks like I've got some options - tighten-each-time is free, Loctite is $6 at Home Depot, and I could borrow some nail polish from the gf.
FWIW, this was the 5th time I had used the board.

Re: securing board screws
Keep in mind when you are tightening down the screws that normally there is some softer material that is sandwhiched in there somewheres...with the flexing and all the vibration, screws loosen up. The world is an imperfect place.

Did you put it together??
Shop guys often screw boards together in "stock" positions but it's often best to make changes in cant, spread, sizing...
Sometimes new screws come pre-locktited so once you move it you need to reglue...
Have Fun!!!

BTW, how do you know the right position for the foot straps? I canted mine out slightly and used the middle holes width-wise, but I have no idea what's right, or whether this is entirely personal preference.

Not an expert, but what I've heard is stand in an open space on your own two feet, jump off the ground and land naturally, and then observe the width and angle of your feet. That is your natural athletic stance.brandonh wrote:BTW, how do you know the right position for the foot straps? I never actually did that though... stock position on both boards seemed to work ok for me. I'm sure there is some personal preference in there too.

Re: securing board screws
I use silicon and never had to tighten the screws on my boards. It also prevents rust to build on or around the screws.
