I think Jeff thinks it looks good to land a huge jump riding away while Ollie kinda likes the dramatic exit look. Either of them could land it though if they had to.

yeah....i'm not sure landing a big jump in 25-30 really compares to jumping in 50+ mph...both are impressive nonetheless...I'm impressed with the few folks who went out though...ballsy.

yeah at that point its more a game of keep the kite from collapsing, not losing your board in the windwaves and just making it back alive.

Re: Insane winds! 3rd Ave video footage
gimme a break charlie i've only rode a 6m once! gimme my 8m in 25-35 and i'll go big and land it every time guaranteed. There has never been a day at alameda that even compares to the wind at 3rd yesterday sorry to say, and i've kited alameda and got my ass kicked on some windy ones. remember wind power is not linear. the wind power at 50mph is 4x of that at 25mph. jmo

Re: Insane winds! 3rd Ave video footage
Like I said in the video description, sorry for posting all the non-lands and such but I've got to give props to everybody for trying. As Ramsey said and maybe some others, don't forget what the conditions were! I assumed people would take this into perspective. The video does speak for itself in that regard, with the Everest-like waves and jumpy kites. I can respect going out there and boosting a couple just for the sake of jumping. Or whatever your style, it doesn't matter, as long as you keep it on the safe side. It takes a serious kiter to feel confident going out in weather like that, and I thought everyone handled it remarkably.
Thanks to all the kiters. I look forward to shooting more video in ideal conditions, since more friendly winds would allow me to edit and show only the flawless sequences. By the way, I hope it wasn't bad form to post or record this stuff without specific consent from every kiter. If anyone has a problem with it, please let me know and I'd be happy to remove their footage. I took some liberties with the assumption it would be enjoyed viewing, but I didn't get a chance to talk to every kiter involved.

dude,
excellent that you take your time to make the footage and share it with us. Every kiter is thrilled to see himself on images/ videos. Landed or crashed is not the issue ;-) Being out there was already enough craziness to tape it.
