Greg...nice seing you at SI today buddy...
As far as the old thing...Since I started kitting I have lost weight, lost the pain in my joints, have gotten taller, boosted my confidence along with the height of my jumps, met new friends, become more alcohol tolerant, have built an orphanage in Bangladesh, have incrementally and substantially increased my portfolio, am writing better music, discovered the existence and maximization of female stimulation by use of the ZXP spot ( soon to be revealed in Cosmopolitan magazine) and have become a sexy, sexy bitch ...yes all this and more I owe to kitting... \:D/

I'm friggin' old.
But still having fun.
I excuse myself from grabs, but still like air.
Edging is more fun for me than spins in transitions, and adds functionality in carving on waves.
Old dogs don't need so many new tricks to keep happy, and value joints (stop I know what you're thinking).
Actually I'm not THAT old, just 52 like I mentioned in another post, started using the handle when I was playing Counterstrike online with my kids. I think average age of everybody else was 12. Kiteboarding maybe I'm a little closer to the overall average, but handle still seems to apply.
CV: Surfing 42 years, windsurfing 24 years, kiting....what? 3-4 years.....
I'd say kiting's way more fun than windsurfing, still don't think it's as pure as regular surfing but that's my first love and I admit bias......and maybe when I can't paddle anymore I'll still be able to get me some.......

Hey Greg,
How was that session last night? I was watching you from the windsurf area...looking like you were having fun on the 9 m Smoke. Zev ripped strapless surfboard on Saturday night on the same kite.
Both you guys were "rippin". Chris

windsaloft, great post. It's cool to hear of your new found addiciton. So where are you going for your kiting vacation?
It sounds like you are actually in the young crowd.
I used to say I want to do a kiteloop on my 50th birthday. However, my good friend is 49 and doing backroll kiteloops so I will need to up the ante.
I read about a kiter who learned when he was 80. His name is Paol Rasmussen and he is thought to be the oldest kiter in the world at 84(may be the person in jjm's post but I was not able to view the link). He says that "when he can no longer kite, he no longer wants to live!!!".
He kites everyday with his son who is also retired!
Just like in snowboarding/skiing, I am always impressed to see older folks still riding. Great inspiration for the 'young bucks'.
I can't even imagine what kind of tricks the youngsters will be throwing if I'm lucky enough to still riding at 84!!!!
(or lucky enough to be hobbling around the local kiting spots with replaced knees, hips, and severe arhiritus in all other joints - still stoked and cheering on the kids)

all relative
Old is relative, ya know????
In my mind, I'm still 24, and nothing can happen to me, or that I can't recover from......
I've learned that the body, after you turn 40, changes. learned it the hard way.......i'm a bit slow what can I say.......
I ride a surf board much more often these days, and love it!!!!
The TT/facemask still come out from time to time.....doing heavy wake riding is not easy on your back and connetive tissue......
Enjoy each session like it's your last, cause you just don't know when it will be.......
See you on the water when I'm 80, Z.
