the who beach front should be rescaped to have the walking path a lot further back from the surf and more sand needs to be brought it, remove those all piers supports while you are at it.
propogate this information through the proper channels and keep me posted on the progress via this thread
Thanks.
Here's a
link to the Coyote Point Master Plan. (scroll down a bit on the page)
The plan shows that the entire beachfront and promenade are scheduled for redesign and refurbishing over the next few years. Due to the forces of Mother Nature, lack of ongoing maintenance and chronic insufficient funding the beach and pathway are in shambles. Most of the beach is fenced off because the pathway has been undermined and is crumbling away. When the tide is low enough you can see that jagged rock, concrete and rusty rebar line most of the area. Long gone is the nice, sandy beach upwind of the swimming area where erosion has exposed the remains of an old boardwalk that ran parallel to the beach.
While completion of this massive plan is still a few years out, efforts by the SFBA and local sailors in conjunction with the park service should bring a temporary sandbag fix to the windsurf launch area in time for next season. (fingers crossed)

It sounds like our sport will be to blame for the whole world ending up under water. Team Coyote, I dont know you or what boardsports is doing but i do know that for being new neighbors your attitude online here sucks! You don't even really seem like you want to mediate but more point the finger. I have a neighbor like that, and the result is a constant cold war and never speaking to eachother. Life is too short for this BS. Go grab a beer with the girls, they are very nice people, and figure it out together without making them seem like rebels to everyone else on here.

You're right, Yuri. A good neighbor attitude should exist. I have publicly welcomed Boardsports to the neighborhood on my site and on iWindsurf. I have stated online and in private conversation that I believe they will be an asset to Coyote Pt. as it's in dire need of a revitalization of windsurfing.
I broke the news of their new shop on my site and iWindsurf in a post that clearly expressed my feeling that their presence will be a good thing. For some reason they objected to the post, but instead of contacting me directly, they tried to pressure iWindsurf to delete it and any future post on the subject. That approach doesn't seem neighborly. I emailed and sent a PM to Jane to sort things out but got no response.
When the launching, landing, going through the swim area problem came up a longtime Coyote kiter (and former windsurfer) went to the shop to explain the best kite launching and landing scenerios for Coyote with specific regard to wind direction, tide condition and local rules. He was told that the kiters in question are experts who know what they're doing.
It was only after the problem persisted that any posts were made online (starting with the one referenced at the top of this thread.) Additionally the local kiter contacted boardsports by email and actually got a response saying they will work hard to help everyone understand the rules. While that sounds good the problem continues.
After my post here Tuesday I was contacted by a 3rd party on behalf of Boardsports (this is getting to be pattern) who suggested that maybe by breaking the rules they can affect a change of the rules. I was told that neither Rebecca nor Jane would reply to any of my posts. As you know, Jane did and invited me to come over and chat anytime. I went there that day and yesterday, before and after I sailed, but nobody was home.
Where's Mr. Rogers when you need him?

Do swimmers still swim in there? Esp on windy days? I do think it would be nice if the county spent some money on fixing that falling in sidewalk to make the park a little nicer. I kite 3rd quite often and would love to see Coyote Point become more kite friendly.
I agree with Average_Male that if the beach had a little sand added to it that it would draw a lot more people in addition to kiters and windsurfers. They do beach nourishment at a lot of other locations like Alameda and even Ocean Beach.

After reading all this, my only question would be, "Who is "average_male"? Sure seems subversive what he has input to the thread and expected others to follow through with... how about some initiative yourself average_male???
If you're using it, you have direct responsibility for maintaining it, no? Seems you would be a perfect person to present these ideas to the park service/planners that are responsible. Nobody better to promote your vision than yourself.
