1. doing what i know with style and powered. grabbing what i know, frontrolls, s-bends, mobes, riding blind, kiteloops...
2. anyone killing it, unhooked 2, metropolis, autofoucus, kiteboarder sequence issue
3. whoever is there
4. I just make sure i'm not too powered when I try new stuff and I keep the kite high. Once I'm confident I'll do it powered with the kite low. Also lots of deep water downwind of me helps reduce the fear factor.

1. Clockwise backrolls. Kiteloop transition backrolls. Unhooked transitions :?
2. I'm inspired by those giving back to the kb community
3. I see oldies constantly building up the newbies, a unique trait of the sport
4. Start small. Incremental stuff, since repetition displaces fear.

but if i can learn to crash a trick, it gets ezer to try becouse you know how to crash it and NOT get hurt..?
it helps with Da FeaR.
ollie tells me to keep my eyes open and look for the landing...hes right
Need to learn to crash better, and get over the scared factor. I've looped my kite during a backroll on accident (ended up getting dragged under water), but I can't talk myself in to trying it. Damn those RRD's turn fast.

1. I'm still finding the up button (or the landing to be specific)
2. Other people boosting beside me
3. See #2
4. Take baby steps so I know I'll always make it back to the beach

i started my back roll party on the 16m Hir...
it just sits right where i put it,so i just grab dead center with both hands
and not input when i roll, keep try n, little steps...
you can find a way to try it with out EaT N iT.
or eat it in smaller bits.

backroll tips

Post by zgur » Thu May 11, 2006 8:00 am

Dewey,

When doing a back roll, think of the bar as a steering wheel, vs. handlebaars. Only move the bar to drive the kite. Keep your hands near center, and don't pull on your hands when you are doing your move.

With HIR, the steering wheel is attached to a formula 1 ride. Go easy.

Get some, Z.

Good advise on the back rolls. Last year they were no problem because I would finish the roll before the kite would react. This year it's more of a roll then whoohoo torpedo ride. Charlie I agree it's no problem on the 16m, but that 10m is on crack. I'm sure I'll get used to the speed. Not so scared to drop the kite this year. I need the balls to unhook and loop!!

if you have any decent wind you don't need to boost the kite on your backroll. Just bring it to the top of the window so it can support your body weight. When rolling pull in on your front hand slightly.
