I have 5 non kiting months a year to concentrate on work, non kiting friends, and the house. I've got the time to sit and wait for reviews. I'm not to sure about best, airush is a solid brand. I could see prices comming down with the release of more and more new kites. As of now WW is still the kites that I think I'll get, but you never know... Maybe it'll come out that bucket kites are the way to go.

My '03 AR Lift 12M is my favorite kite. Also, Airush bars, etc. have a really good reputation. Lots of people use their components with other kites.

They seem to be straddling the line between North and everyone else, saying "Our C kites are still more high performance than the Halo for really good kiters, but the bow kites have their niche."

I'm going to wait at least a year before buying a bow kite, read all the reviews, hear the scuttlebutt on the beach next summer, and then start picking them up when people sell their '05s for pennies on the dollar to get next year's "much improved" models.

There is no financial support for a magazine or website that does objective, critical research comparing kites side to side.

Good for them for saying so. From what I seen and experienced myself so far, I have yet to see a kite that does *everything* well. New efficient bow kites do a lot of things quite well, some offer greater simplicity than others, most offer great depower. For many kiters, a kite that does a lot of things well, has good low-end, turns fast, jumps good, depowers a lot, etc. is a winnner. Quality of construction and a good value for your dollar is important as well.

But 5 months not kiting is just crazy...

Sure. They and other kite companies (RRD?) are figuring out that a "quiver" can mean more than one kite of each size. Soon, they will all go to town specializing kites even more. Everyone will have a kite in each size of two or three different styles -- bow, "C", foil for snow, Wave, etc.

I've got three pairs of skis and I use them all during the season, depending on conditions.

Five months of not kiting...on the water, would be okay if there was snow during those five months!

Maybe some kiting this weekend on the ocean, huh?

Speaking of, we'll try and close the wine-for-apparel deal soon. ;)

Dewey,
If you're thinking on kiting at the coast on Saturday (sand or water), I will definitely be heading down either to OB or Stinson.

Ollie will probably be at OB, I'm guessing.

Dewey,

Paul is right, if things are looking good, I will be at OB Saturday. But if you want to hook up sometime before then, we might be able to do so...
