Fraud? Any advice?

If you want to take the time, you could either file a report with your local police or better yet, call your bank and ask someone in their security or fraud dept. what to do.

Part of the crook's strategy might be to get your account number by having you sending a check of your own or wiring from your account. I hope you didn't send your kite. Too bad you had to spend time dealing with this. Fortunately it sounds like your "gut check" allowed you to catch it in time.
