I weigh 145, so I def need less kite anyway. I would say rule of thumb is 2 kite sizes down for the cloud will deliver the same power. Plus you're foiling, so smaller is better again. My go to strutted kite was an 8, now on a surf board I go 7meter cloud. Foiling it's almost always a 5 at Crissy, and even on a surfboard the 5 is fun.

Ideal quiver, I'd say can range depending on the rider, it's pretty hard to advise on that. If the kites are 2 meters smaller, then likely 2 meters down from your current quiver is good guidance. My largest kite I have is now a 9. Weird. That gets good use at Alameda, but at 180 pounds it could be the right size to start with.

The low end on these are outstanding, but I actually think they are hard to handle on the high end. When I'm over powered, I sheet out all the way, but lose all kite control. It's a downside with all that depower, you depower and you can't steer. Overall thats fine, if I'm getting dragged on or with my foil, I want depower to zero asap. I'm sure I get overpowered more than most given my size, so I benefit more from the really small kites.

For me with TT and Paipo sizing about -1m from wainman and bandit or would I say same size delivers more low end. On the high end I remember my bandit 5 9m and I was overpowered in 30kts so I barely made it back to the beach and landing was sketchy, with cloud 9m got is storm 30-35kts, could handle it gently, but not able to body drag upwind due to sheet out to dump power=loose control, sheet in a bit and drugged downwind, but went downwind and easily landed it on land, so all in all for me it delivers about same upper limit, but with more low wind. Tho, in high winds it gets tough quickly.

With TT and Paipo my quiver is 7-9-12 clouds, main riding spots Sherman, 3rd and occasionally Alameda and Crissy.
Anything 12kts up and I can go upwind on paipo and 12m.
I'm about 165lbs.

Btw, added 5m for my wife and tested it in 25+kts, pure fun, when wind suddenly died I was constantly looping it and made it downwind when heavy kites started to fall from sky.

Re: Foil Beginner-Where to go with these W Winds? Light Kite

When its really light, its way too easy to back stall and drop a kite into the water. Bar out and the kite will not climb up the window... Depower the kite by pulling on your trim. May seem counter intuitive but when its really light, my kites are fully depowered/trim on.

Good to know Dwayne, will try asap. Thanks for your feedback.
