Yeah the updated prediction makes me definitely not want be out on Sunday or Monday. Hoping the temps drop enough so I can chase the storm up to Tahoe for some skiing.
Listing gear is bad, and you should feel bad.

ikitesurf has downgraded the wind strength to mid-30, so 7 to 9 meters kite should be good (even for beginners
) . Just make sure to check again Sunday morning

Winter storm kiting is not recommended for beginners.

Do you guys think coming Saturday and Sunday (Nov 29,30) are good days to hit Ocean Beach? I only kited there once earlier this Summer in nasty onshore wind. The forecast promises 20-25 knots from the left(!). How reliable are these storm forecasts?
Or is it a better idea to do Alameda/3rd?

Well, what is your skill level?
After you answer that question, read this post:

Then you can asses your risk factor when kiting at the coast during winter.

come out to Alameda today, Sunday ... Should be mellow enough for everyone - 10 to 20 mph . Just dont go too far out in case the wind drops all the sudden .

The wind doesn't look so great right now at Alameda. If anyone heads there, it would be great to get an update.
Hoping for it to pick up.

During the winter season by the time the update comes and you head to the beach its usually too late. Early bird gets the wind

Got to agree with Erin on that one!Loscocco wrote:During the winter season by the time the update comes and you head to the beach its usually too late. Early bird gets the wind
Winter riding is about being there at the right time and at the right spot.
One spot can blow an hour and then another spot can blow the next. Really local wind.
