truly, it's damn near irresponsible not to wear your helmet on the airplane. don't let looking cool get in the way of safety.

Just leave the board at home...

Airlines are going to ding you $100 each way for the oversized bags. Get on the local forums and see if there is a shop or local that will rent you a board for the week (or whatever) for $100 and WHAAALAAA you save a benji and get to demo a board. LOTS of local legends are more than happy to help out. I bought a twintip in Maui for $200 and sold it back for $100. 10 day rental basically..... Maui Action Sports. Granted it was a Naish Haze Noodle.....

The whole fin thing is ridiculous. Maybe for the footpads. Ive spent hours installing those and wouldn't take them off for $100. The fins.... they tend to fall out anyways after 4 hours.

We got dinged the $100 on the way to hawaii but on the way back we took advantage of the outside baggage service as they are normally much nicer. You will most likely pay the $25 and just tip them another $10-20 and you are way les than the $100. we have a friend that was so concerned about it that he wore a golfers hat, shirt and pants on the plane. Now that's funny!

At issue is the wear and tear on the treads not the time it takes. Last time putting on the fin, the tread was so bad I had to use glue... granted it was an older board..

Seriously, take them off or consider buying an electronic screw driver if it is really too much of a hassle.

What's the best way to travel by air with you kites inflated? just kidding
