or just wad it up and jam it in the bag
these little pinholes aren't a cause for concern. don't worry about your kite till you see holes or tears

Most likely that's me. I'm there all the time. No one else kites there with a blue Ride.reyrivera wrote:Nothing else can be done, just your basic preventive maintenance:
Keep the kite clean and dry, don't leave it exposed to prolonged heat.
I think I recognize your kite, weren't you riding a couple of days ago late Tuesday afternoon in Alameda? You were walking past Shellgate, while I was packing up my green and orange kite.

^ That was one I was going to ask about too. Is the kite getting wet when you're landing etc? When you're learning to kite your kite probably takes one of the biggest beatings it's going to get. Part of that wear process involves it being coated with salt water / sitting in the water, which is probably over time contributing to some sort of brining of the fabric

Nah nah, I take really good care of my stuff. Having been around kitesurfers for so long even before kiting, I picked up on good habits. It probably suffered the brunt of the wear and tear when I would walk back up the beach a lot last year with my kite in hand, flapping away. Praise the Upwind Gods when they finally blessed me.
I've been setting my harness down on my trailing edge when I'm rigging up, changing, etc and that helps keep the flapping down.
You all have been super helpful with your input, thanks a bunch

dried salt crystals are very abrasive as is sand and dirt.
rinsing with fresh water and drying thoroughly once in a while is not a bad idea.

Be happy you're wearing your kite out. It means you're using it and watching what happens. All my kites seemed to wear along the trailing edge first. Maybe they'll double up the trailing edge next year and call it a feature.
