20 seconds into this video, this guy flip turns his kite. Is this a trick or a freak mistake? Either way it looks way cool.

didnt look cool to me.. looked like a totally lame kite in some wacked conditions..
The area looks like the Marrows. There are some 90 mile of them to do downwinders in Abaco. Better know the way- folks get lost and die out there from thirst... Wouldnt that SUCK! dieing of thirst while kite boarding in 1-6 feet of cristal clear water over a white sand bottom...sun so bright it burned the eyes out the back of your head. (true storys about lost fishermenm, some have died from exposure)

This appears to be exactly what I say one day at Sherman.
There was a guy out on his Best Waroo and as he was riding his kite did exactly the same thing durring a kite loop. This happened twice.
It was similar to a kite inversion / collapse where the kite folds in half but this was totally catastrofic. The only differance was the guy in the video pulls off a turn after the kite folds.
When I talked to the guy riding the Waroo he said he was adjusting his lines and when he did a kite loop, when the kite would hit a certain spot in the rotation the kite would collapse. He seemed like it was no big deal but I surely wouldn't want that to ever happen to my kite.
But on the other hand, the video does make it look like a really cool way to turn....

Deffinetly need to pump up the new kites good and hard..
The New Sling kite called the Link does a weird wing tip thing also unless its pumped really hard or flown in the 5th line setup. Many of the new kites are going to have very reduced leading edges. By 5th lining the Link you can get away with less pressure..
Strange as it might seem, its a pretty normal structural issue and also revolves around designed stability.
The closer a wing gets to ballanced from front to back (C.P. of pressure)the closer it will be to instabitity, therefore the kites with the heavyest bar pressure are inharently the most stable. The issue with bow kites inverting in mid-flight is more a function of there extreme de-power which can cause the kite to "over-fly" almost instently. This over-fly issue is easyly resolved by reducing the bars total throw, problem there is everyone wants total-depower...no manufacturer wants to increase their libility.. So we need to super-tune our own kites, But many people dont know how to do that... and so it goes,
