hey im a newbie and lookin to go up to 3rd ave this weekend on sunday. i took my lessons from jeff at wind over water a couple weeks ago and kited a few times on vacation up at clear lake. this would be my first time goin up to 3rd ave on my own tho so i was wonderin if anybuddy else goin would b interested in lendin a newbie and hand? my riding skills are already pretty good cause ive been wakeboarding since it was invented so im hopin to work on some simple transitions and maybe some upwind riding. ive never done a real beach launch tho so thats where id be lookin for the most help, i dont want to make a dumb mistake and potentially cause an accident or injurry. anyone whos interested let me no and also does anyone know what the winds will be like on sunday?

You should ideally wait for a day at alameda or a downwinder at sherman. 3rd would be ok if you can stay upwind but it is a short downwind run. You can do it but it is not the reccomended learning spot by anymeans. If you are comfortable going both directions and can at least fight going downwind you are probably ok there. Just be aware of the rocks and plan coming in to the lower beach at just the right moment beause the next beach down is a far walk and you are on your own.

Use the upper launch and ask some people out there to guide you to the water safely and explain you the 3rd spcific things. Everybody is very helpful out there. Nothing compared to Alameda. I I will be there would help you for sure but I am not sure yet. PM me you cell number, so I can call you if I go.

thanks for the help guys. i know alameda or sherman would probably be better for someone like me but i live all the way down in santa cruz so the hour drive to 3rd ave is the closest for me(and with a teenagers salary like i get i want to drive as little as possible lol). i can ride comfortably in both directions but ive only done a little upwind riding before. i think ill try 3rd ave this time and if it doesnt work well then next time ill make the trip all the way to sherman or alameda
