Re: Oh no

Lo)% Then someone is gonna come along and say: "look! it's even easier if you use a metal mast to hold the wing to the board! I'm gonna call this windfoiling!" And then another guy shows up and say: "even better! If you take the foil out and keep the wing and the mast you can go in the surf with it!...

Re: Camping at The Sign, Sherman Island

I have pitched a tent before at Sherman. I only do it on week days and make sure to do it somewhere in the bushes out of everybody's way. Taking it down every day to pitch it back up only at night. I use one of those "2 seconds" tent from Decathlon, so it's super easy/quick to set up and brake down....

Re: ob-kc

Surfline already has 4 HD webcams on the beach. Wind data was the only thing that was interesting to me about OB-KC (the nearest sensor on Ikitesurf is fort Funston).
Moved a few blocks away from the beach last year, so problem solved. SS$$

Re: Complete set up for a beginner

You will most likely need the 9 in the spring in Alameda. It gets pretty windy at that time. You'll DEFINITELY need one for sherman/pittsburg area. I have nothing against a 14m but lightwind riding is just easier if you have the right board too, not just a regular TT. If you're on a budget, then yes...

Re: Complete set up for a beginner

Thanks le noun. Do you think 11m is too small if I plan to frequent Alameda? It sounds like most people there use 12m-14m. For what it's worth, I took my lessons on a 12m in SF. And in general, is using a smaller kite safer? it depends: are you only gonna head to Alameda in the spring when it's win...

Re: Complete set up for a beginner

Kites: 8m and 11m, preferably the "freeride" kind. A twin tip big and wide. A go-joe to put on said twintip board. Put your name and phone number on every piece of equipment you own. Keep the SAME brand for BOTH KITES and the BAR, you can mix and match the rest (people will say you can mix and match...
