Re: Why are there not kite makers HQ'd in San Francisco?

Kites/Bars/Boards/Hydrofoils = F-One (US HQ in S SF) Boards/Hydrofoils = Axis (Evan at Live2Kite is part owner, but the boards are designed overseas) Boards = Litewave (HQ'ed inland near Folsom lake) Kite Surfboards = Linden/Kafka (Jeff Kafka at WindOverWater is part designer) Hydrofoils = Mikes Lab...

Re: Free Water Safety Fair US Coast Guard Sat May 18th 10-1

Please DO NOT inform the USCG that we kiteboarder's are breaking their established non-motorized "vessel" laws for floatation devices... http://www.uscgboating.org/assets/1/workflow_staging/Publications/479.pdf I warn this because I've been threatened by park rangers for not wearing a vest when kiti...

Re: Snowkite Lake Van Norden

Any tips on checking for water level/frozen? Just check in real life when I go? My assumption is it is all ice given recent weather. I recall Prosser being more accessible and you can kite on the flats nearby when the reservoir is low, so there's no need to get onto the ice portions. I haven't kite...

Re: Snowkite Lake Van Norden

Checked out your link to Red Lake Ridge. They put the level as: Ability: Advanced-Expert Snow shoes are a great idea and I'll probably try and rent a pair of those regardless of location. Any thoughts on Martis Meadows? Red Lake is referenced as Advanced/Expert because it's a slope vs flats. Kiting...

Re: Sherman this Sunday

Has anyone tried kiting Franks Tract on a north wind? Is it even accessible? Seems like it could fill in. I think the only place to launch from would be off of a boat (if it's allowed). On land you'd have to use the private farmland levees to rig/launch, but they're not accessible nor ideal (and sa...

Re: New bill to increase regulation of "personal watercraft"

The proposed bill is to modify existing language in the definitions so that law enforcement can adequately do their job. It's not increasing regulation, it's improving it. It's important to know that under CA and Federal law, crafts such as kiteboards and paddleboards are NOT defined as "personal wa...

Re: SB-1247 Vessels: machinery: mechanically propelled vesse

I interpret this to mean they want CF numbers, on Kayaks, SUP, Windsurf and kite boards. meaning A fee and they also just criminalized kite-boarders reckless behavior. That's a fair argument! Where I live, there's a 23 mile section or the river that requires Non-Motorized vessels to have a pass. It...

Re: SB-1247 Vessels: machinery: mechanically propelled vesse

Regarding us kiters, it looks like this bill is simply designed to clarify that a sail (kite) is "machinery" and could endanger someone. No "paying in" required! ;)
