Lately I have noticed that alot of windsurfers are riding right in front of the kite launch area. I have been respectful in terms of their teritory but it seems there isnt any bounds lately. Is all area open game now?

yeah seriously. i noticed that also yesterday and the past few weekends. I think they are watching so they can secretly learn to kite. I wonder how long until they all give up windsurfing and convert the windsurfing area into a kite area.

I think they are just having fun.. I had many years of great times windsurfing, I went anywhere and did anything I wanted, JUST LIKE NOW!
I say: GOOD FOR THEM!! They can come play with me anytime just as I enjoy playing with them from time to time...
It's ALL GOOD! Everyone is invited to the party..

I was a bit nervous by the windsurfer in the area yesterday as sometimes, and i think this is a legitamate reason to not want them there, when boosting huge air, they can be very hard to see and quickly cruise right under you. Also, windsurfers, most of them, lack the ability to quickly change directions. As a result i rode up to her and politely asked her if she needed help since she seemed like she had little experience on the rig. She was very thankful and almost surprised that a kiter asked her that. I, for the most part, think the seperation of the 2 sports is rediculous, but they are harder to see when you are mid air.

I'm pretty sure it is a free for all. How many times have kiters thrown tricks inside the buoys and ended up in front of the windsurfing launch. I know I have. Maybe the SSC should amend the rules inside the buoys to include windsurfers as well. If they are slogging or down in the water, you can always jump over them. It's giving right-of-way 3D style. Just watch out for the pole-- don't want to come down on that.

Greg is right...doesn't matter the vehicle, we are all looking to get some.
Since (and I agree with this one) there has been more of a "we are all ridding all over the place" vibe, we just need to be a little more aware of what is around us. Look before you jibe, throw tricks and look ahead at what is coming your way.
Assume responsibility and be smart about your riding and don't put it on other people to give you space. Make sure the space is there in the first place...
And I do still think that kiting has an element to it akin to porn...now go get some... :-k
