Are there usually kiters out at 3rd avenue after work on weekdays?
I've been thinking about cutting out early and get in some evenings sessions if the wind is good, but my kiting skills aren't such that I want to be out there alone...

If wind is right, there are always a few guys there. If nobody is there, it is a good sign that conditions are not right. Though, I remember seeing a couple kites there a week ago when the wind was quite offshore.

There always many kiters if there is wind with the right direction.

My recommendation (and most other kiters I know) is that you never go out alone regardless of your kiting skills. %@#$ happens quickly and I wouldn't want to be out there hoping that someone sees me in trouble and calls the CG. As stated above if there's no one out there on a windy day, there is a reason.TheSwede wrote:my kiting skills aren't such that I want to be out there alone...

Amen, alone is a no go. Weekdays are when I am out the most because my weekends are often spent catching up on other stuff. I plan on heading out there today when I'm off...hoping for things to be more consistent.

I often ride by myself at third because I end up being the first one on the beach. But usually, after 30min of riding there are always folks showing up.
Like stated above, of the wind is good and in the right direction, you'll never be by yourself there. If nobody in the water by 4pm, then that means you shouldn't be either...

if i go to 3rd i try to get there BEFORE people start getting off work. it can get pretty crowded after 3 on a good day during the week.

Its always best to not go out alone however I ride my local spot alone often... I tend to keep things mellow though and play the conservative card. Where I kite everyone finishes at 4 when I'm just getting off work (everyone is a rich doctor or retired I think).mcfly777 wrote:My recommendation (and most other kiters I know) is that you never go out alone regardless of your kiting skills. %@#$ happens quickly and I wouldn't want to be out there hoping that someone sees me in trouble and calls the CG.
