My awesome and slightly crazy friend Olivier Peyre going around the world kite-biking (and para-gliding and sailing).

He said the furthest he has gone like that is 40km. It looks wicked labor intensive to me...

Pretty cool, but impractical for transportation in most areas. Having learned to kiteboard on a longboard and trainer kite, we were quite challenged to find rural roads without power lines and high trees along the side. The center of gravity is too high also, although somewhat compensated by his heavy ballast of panniers.
