Lease a Kite through Ocean Rodeo

A new concept and program from Ocean Rodeo, very cool. Perhaps a more economical way for us to always be flying the latest gear? Check it out!

I wonder what happens once you start getting scratches and holes through the year. I take EXTREME care of my kites and STILL end up with a tiny puncture or a small scratch from the broken shells at third every now and then. I mean, they're never bigger than a pinhead, but still, I wonder how OR is gonna handle that...
Cool concept though. That's what I do for my phone... MJ0_

Is this a lease or a purchase plan? Do you turn the kite back in at the end of the year. At 66/mo you pretty much pay for the whole kite by the end of the year so I would have to assume it is yours at the end of the year?

It's something like a 49% lease plan with either a balloon payment at the end, or you return it, or you renew the lease on a new kite. The details are on their webpage. You're paying retail, but spreading the cost over the year.

Just like solar city, taking away work and profits of local businesses by using their capital to lease out their product. This prices the small businesses out of the market. Abusive use of their wealth if you ask me. Convenient if you cant afford a new kite. Look at the bigger picture. Keep rockin used and closeout kites off of craigslist and ebay.

I like the idea a lot, esp for those of us who ride a lot and like to always be rocking the latest gear.
