Re: Sliding spreader bar?
Was the dyneema rope an option in the V7 kit last year or so? I don't really like the surf bar as it has a tiny notch in the middle. That causes the sliding hook to stick quite a bit. Also, the nylon roller doesn't roll very well and starts to develop flat spots.

Re: Sliding spreader bar?
The rope "bar" is built right in on the current version (v7), yes, as seen here:

I didn't even bother trying the steel version, not sure what the point is. Simpler = better in my book, I am digging my setup.

Re: Sliding spreader bar?
THis is what i use. There are a couple local kiters that had a few of these custom built. Works great for me. I have it on a dakine spreader bar pad and harness. I does push the bar out a little bit, but i'm used to it because I use a large chicken loop on my freestyle bar. never tried a rope to compare though.

Re: Sliding spreader bar?
@stompdit -- is that an Engine harness? They look cool - and well made.. Just curious, is there a release in the harness like on the Dynabar? I like having that as a backup because so many have warned me that the snap shackle you and I are both using _may_ not release under heavy load (it's not designed to do so, per se).

Re: Sliding spreader bar?
Rowboat, no, it's just a dakine harness with a custom sliding spreader bar. Don't know if engine has that extra release. I'd like to ditch my chicken loop like you did, but I keep it so I can release from my loop if things go bad.

Re: Sliding spreader bar?
The new ones come with the Dyneema Spreader. You can buy the freestyle and wave spreaders separately.drroc wrote:Thanks. Looks like I bought an earlier version then.
