The video made it look way better than the way I felt. I'm sure I would have done lot better if I got some pointers before I started. I was pretty hammered by the time I got back to the beach. They told me it will be like first day learning to kite with the board, they were wrong. I did way better on first day with the board when I was first learning. I might not been able to go up wind but I was able to at least ride the board when I was first learning.

I'm hoping to get a demo board for 3rd AVE but will see if it will happen.

I totally embarrassed myself with my incompetence yesterday on the foil board but at least 3rd AVE crew was also thoroughly entertained. I suspected that I was leaning back too much and video provided evidence of that. Surprisingly, today I was able to ride and even go up wind when I was foiling. I wouldn't recommend doing what I did, I would take a quick lesson from Kite The Bay. Hoping to get better tomorrow.

foiling & performance Carifino & Zeeko

Post by lodwik » Fri Aug 30, 2013 2:24 pm

Well have now been riding the new Zeeko for 3 weeks , Upwind amazing :woohoo: , down wind to scary to go faster than 28MPH so far .
learning from the carafino was only a few days cut over ,
But have not managed to stall Jive & a planing Jive , over run the Kit or loss balance & fall(straps are very bad on ankle when trying to Jive ,
As you are falling & the board is going up without your weight on it ...
this foil seems to be made for Tacking , but I never was able to master this on a surf board , let alone a foil .. :(
the race foil is not good to try to ride the waves , the freestyle foil is better , but is does not want to turn quickly .
Currently to have fun, carving waves & jumping I go back to my old carafino.. but i is like riding a brick {}[]
, I think the zeeko would be a amazing race board tack angles of around 43 degrees, but requires a better rider than me

I definitely agree the freestyle foil is way better in the surf
