South Padre Island Thanksgiving week

Is anyone interested in going to South Padre Island to kite for the week of thanksgiving? This is my first full season kiting, I recently went to Kauai and tried to kIte, but did not find it easy to navigate, or that anyone there was very helpful. I'd like to go somewhere to go kiting for thanksgiving week, but it would be nice to get together with others who are interested in doing the same. Or, has anyone been to SPI and can reassure me that i'll be able to navigate it on my own? Or possibly make some suggestions or recommendations?
