Hello everyone. just to let you all know , the weather pattern is starting to change. The bubble or light wind by the beach will increase and it may be side offshore too. Even though it is light at the beach it can be very windy once you get to the wind line. Some people may not make it to the wind line and be floating on the inside with there kite in the water, it is important to swim as fast as possible to shore or you risk being blown far off shore but not being able to relaunch do to light wind. A second leash is recommend to have on the back of your harness to clip onto your board if you are down so you can concentrate on your kite and not risk loosing your board.
As the season winds down the window of opportunity to sail at Crissy will decrease with an abrupt shut off of the wind starting from the beach towards the other side off the bay, marathon seasons will leave you stuck far out .
3 pm to 5 pm is the most reliable after that you are just asking for grief.
You absolutely need to keep looking back and kiting over to the wind line to see how to get back to the beach, and to see if coming in up the beach or down wind of the beach is the way to make it in. Knowledge of the current is paramount , it make the difference of being able to self rescue/swim before you are pulled out to open ocean passed the bridge or missing last chance beach with no way to get in with all the piers. Ask your self if I try to come in high and it is ebbing will I be able to get in before Sucked out under the bridge. or If I come in low will I miss last chance beach.
Actually the wind gets very smooth this time of year but with that big bubble and wind line that just moves far offshore without much warning.
Beside taco self rescue position if there is some onshore wind great, but if offshore wind and your kite is pulling you out, flip in upside down behind you and clip off to the pump lanyard or bridle and get on you board and swim for it. DO NOT DEFLATE YOUR KITE , YOU BECOME ALMOST INVISIBLE OUT THERE WITH OUT THE KITE.
thank you

Re: Crissy End of season information
Please heed this advice, he knows Crissy in and out. Also be ready to begin your session with a run to the water and keep the kite always moving (before your gust lulls out).
Bodyboarding fins on a carabiner connected to the back of your harness may go a long way on the more extreme days. I haven't tried it but I've seen it in action and it looks like it works great
Fall triathlon season is upon us: Run, Kite, Swim - Be safe and enjoy

Re: Crissy End of Season Warning !
Hi guys as Jeff mentioned Crissy is becoming increasingly flukey. At this point if you're considering "giving Crissy a shot" you should probably consider the season ended there. Even those with Crissy sessions under their belt, it is a much different spot this time year of so please talk to people who are watching before pumping up and going out.
Keep in mind - if there are kites out they are probably foils, raceboards, and people who have been doing the Crissy triathlon (run/kite/swim) come Sept/Oct for years.
It has been deceivingly strong on the beach followed by really sketchy wind at Anita rock, kite luffs/drops - and an even lighter channel. As always be sure you're carrying a radio - Sail safe!
