Always In Front Mico Safety Leash

Image

From Best: "The Always In Front Mico Leash is designed to provide greater safety and convenience. The design is in response to multiple severe accidents attributed to conventional leashes where riders have been dragged backwards. Studies indicate 90% of riders never unhook so Best designed their new leash to attach to the front of your harness. This new pin-less safety system is both easy to reach and activate, plus you no longer have a long leash getting in the way."

I'm looking forward to trying this but concerned about no elastic... Anyone used anything like this yet?

Always attached my leash to my hook, which places the release right in front if me. Downside is the leash is always catching my surfboard fins since the leash is so long.

Me too Simon - maybe it's time for a shorter leash! Guess we'll have to sacrifice all that unhooking we're doing in the waves lately, right?

last year a friend snagged his kite on passing tour boat (don't ask). as he was being dragged along at full speed he was unable to reach around and release his leash because the water kept pushing his hand away. he couldn't release until the boat came to a stop.

since then i've turned my lease around so the qr is in front.

Best's new micro leash

Yep. That's one reason I don't ride a leash in waves over about shoulder high. Had my board get caught way to many times in my leash, if I do have to punch out in surf of any size, I want out NOW for my own safety and to minimize the chance of damage to my kite if it gets hit by a wave while I'm still attached. I've been thinking about a short leash for awhile. Good idea.
