Discovery Channel says so. You can believe it. I heard it chomped a whale in half in one bite and is sinking fishing vessels. 60 feet long, 100 tons, teeth 7 inches long.....sighted off the coast of south africa but with indications that it is pelagic and migratory, there's every chance it could show up in the red triangle due to resurgence of pinniped populations.
I love shark week. I've already pretty much od'd on the shark attack stories though. My favorite one is the researcher that was demonstrating in front of a camera crew that sharks don't react to humans as food as long as you remain calm. While that may be directionally true for some shark species, unfortunately he was demonstrating this by wading waist deep through a school of bull sharks. Bad idea. The footage showing the remains of his shredded calf from one good bite is GNARLY.
Everybody should watch shark week. Educational.
Megaladons are real and coming to your neighborhood. Really. It was on the Discovery Channel so it must be true.
