Knee Sprained While Landing Back Foot Out

Post by turbinedude » Sun Jul 28, 2013 7:45 pm

Whatsup,

I ended a tight weekend at Nat's Sherman party with a knee sprain.
Nothing too serious where I could not continue riding for another hour.
Basically what happened is I landed with only my front foot in my twin tip while attempting a back foot out and then the board sort of turned and twisted around with my one foot in.
I believe I heard a sudle pop, but it was more like I could feel something crapped out during the crash process.
Like I said able to ride for another hour with very minor pain before landing.
Minor limp just to baby the leg upon landing the kite to pack up.
Now 8 hours later there is moderate pain when I walk just the right way or bend the leg the right way. The walking pain seems located on the top of the fibula. Plus the there is obvious slight pain on the tip of my fibula. I don't have to limp but the pain makes me want to limp.
For several years a ligament visible pops out around the tip of my fibula when I go from having my calf touch my thigh to bending the knee 90 degrees, but now that seems slightly worse.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Info to pass on: DON'T land with only one foot strapped in!
Sweet weekend btw with DJ guacamole.

Turbine:

Hate to be the BUMMER on the forum, but after having multiple knee surgeries and reading your description, I HIGHLY recommend you go see a knee doctor and get an MRI. The quite pop that you heard, could be the ACL tearing, which is really not what you want. When I tore my ACL I was coming around on a back flip on a wake board (so different) but I did hear a subtle POP as I crashed and after icing it though no big deal just a knee sprain. About two hours later I was grabbing something out of my car and twisted and my knee totally gave out and that is when I booked the doctor visit only to learn torn ACL. Surgery was done and I was back in the doing all activities in seven months time. I got a couple of knee doctors I recommend as trust me when I say I have done my research, as the story above is only about my ACL, as mentioned above "multiple" surgeries and that was the first one...
FIngers crossed for you Bud, but please go see a knee specialist!

I got x-rays and had knee stability tests done. Nothing bad came up. The docs think all it was is just some slight muscle tearing damage. I got a brace last Monday, and been rocking it. Just took it off and have been walking around the entire day without any pain, kinks, or anything. Seems like I already got 100% mobility.
At this point I could hop in the water but I'm going to give it another week.
If my leg falls apart then so be it, what's the point of getting old with a perfect body?
What a great way to learn why you should land clean on kites!

I got a GW KN3eE.
Garage wonders builds a hydraulic actuated exoskeleton knee brace that power assists knee actuation in the meniscus axis while simultaneously preventing any other axis movement. Using a force millesecond feedback sensing system, your own muscle movement activates the brace with ligastretch cross comparitive sensing to prevent unwanted motion. In addition the power assist can having motion limits, unlocked standing positions, and joint axiation speed buffers for extreme air applications.

The GWKN3eEs, the standard version,
because the GWKN3eE is the deluxe version,
does not have any advanced feedback control featured in the deluxe version (forgot to mention the deluxe version has a pressure control knob for force power assistance adjustment)
however, it has a shock dampener for limit knee actuation speed and force.
