Hello, I am new to this and I was wondering what type of board would be easier to learn on? A surf type board or a twin-tip?
Thank you

Re: First board question
First step is to go take professional lessons, do not buy anything until you have had lessons. I would purchase a twintip for my first board then look for a surfboard after you learn to stay upwind.
Sounds like you may not of had your lessons yet??

Re: First board question
Twin tip is probably easier to learn on for most, but I loved that first day romping through the chop on my surfboard after learning for a bit on a twin tip. You'll really probably want both eventually if you're considering either, then just try each and see.
I did get to the point where I was just beginning to stay upwind before moving to a surfboard but really don't know that it matters all that much.
Twin-tip advantages for beginners include: no switching feet direction, easier to manage when concentrating on kite flying, usually has a handle for easy grabbing and putting on your feet.
Surfboard advantages include: generally need less wind to get up to speed, less body dragging as a surfboard catches more wind and waves to move downwind toward you, easier to spot in the water, usually better at handling choppy conditions.

Sold all my gear; ebbs and flows; see you next season.
