Some dumb a.. kitesurfer took out the sensor in Crissy field.
Wonder who he was ??? why couldn't he practice his newly found skill at Alameda or some place SAFE ???

Hi Gang,

Yesterday the Crissy sensor atop Anita Rock was taken out by an out-of-control 12m red with green stripes Slingshot Fuel. Fortunately the kiter was rescued by the Coast Guard near Alcatraz.

Getting this sensor fixed will take time. It is a Schedule 40 1.5 " stainless steel mast so it will take time to buy and ship a new mast and cellular electronics, solar panel etc. We also need CG permission to board the Nav. Aid. Then to fly a repair crew in, rent a truck, charter a boat and then hope for a calm day.

The very first step is to assess how extensive the damage is to the unit.

So we could save some time if one of you could use a telephoto lens and photo the entire sensor so we can see what is missing/damaged.

Read the prior post on Crissy Paradise. In other news sanjose_kiter did you find the laundry list of items you lost at Alameda kiting over a 2 week period. I believe 3 boards, your wetsuit and a Harness.

Yeah, found EVERYTHING except the wetsuit & harness.

My handling skill is good enough for Alameda, 3rd, Sherman but not good enough for Crissy so I 'd stay away until I get better.
