Anyone got any info on Lisbon in November?

Post by eraffini » Thu Oct 28, 2010 1:58 pm

Hey,

Heading to Lisbon for work next month and was wondering if I should think about bringing along the gear. Looks like a number of good beaches and schools near the city. Anyone have any local knowledge or connections they would like to share?

Thanks

Eric

Bump.

I too am heading there (Lisbon, Portugal) for just 2 days next week. Anyone have any inside info on where I should find some wind/rent gear/etc.?

Thanks!

November on the Atlantic coast will get you a lot of wind on stormy days so be prepared for big waves and a lot of wind when it's on. I would defintely bring my gear! You'll need a 5/4 wetsuit with booties and hood.

Ha! Thought I'd revive an old thread rather than start a new one... Actually heading there next week. I can't imagine it will be warm though either way.

Rentals look expensive ~100euro/day for a kit. Hoping someone might know more than google!

Rentals are expensive and gear selection is sparse. You will need a car to get to all the spots.

Spots: Guincho (advanced wave spot, kite size 6-9), Nova Vaga (intermediate coast spot, small waves, good for downwinders, kite size 8-12), Lagoa de Albufeira (beginner flat water spot, great for freestyle, you can also ride on the ocean side, kite size 8-12)

There are other spots further north and south, but they are all 1:30+ hr driving.

I hope this helps. Have fun!
