Lost kiteboard at 3rd - Sat 5/25

Post by alexp415 » Mon May 27, 2013 1:37 pm

I had to self-rescue due to equipment failure, but I wasn't able to grab my board. With the west winds, I'm not too optimistic that it washed up on this side of the bay, but if you find it please let me know.

The board is a 2013 North Jaime 136cm, black with white pads.

Thanks!

Alex

Thanks for the link, I just emailed them...fingers crossed!

Not sure exactly what happened, but there was a lull followed by a big gust, and my kite turned into a bowtie in mid-air. I think it somehow wrapped itself around the 5th line. I've heard of this happening with the '09 Rebels, but I'd never experienced it until Saturday. Needless to say, I wasn't able to relaunch, so I had a nice swim in from about 300 yards. Good times...

North came out with a nose line stabilizer line that connects to the center of the leading edge and the fifth line snake tongue split for this problem. What you really need to do is pump the hell out of that kite, like 8-10lbs of pressure. Those kites need to be rock hard, they basically blew in in 09 and the kite doesn't have a center strut... don't ask me why, just the messenger.

I think if you contact north they can ship you a line, just pump that kite HARD.. doesn't help that they didn't install a stopper ball on the intake valve either. ](*,)

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely shoot them an email. I now have an idea why I got such a great deal on these kites...the previous owner may have been smarter than I thought. ";
