Great wind and big turnout Sunday at the Thermalito Afterbay.
The north wind season usually ends in mid-June here.

It's quite a ride from SF..is it worth it? Is it warm enough to ride without a wetsuit?

There was quite a gang there on sunday! Interesting to see that inland locations like this can bring so many kiters, cool.

Thermalito is a "warming" lake for the rice fields and other various agriculture in the area. It gets its water from Lake Oroville. The water is COLD all year around. I was comfortable in my 5/3 full suit, but anything under a 4/3 would not be enough imo. I've heard that with warmer air temps (90+ degrees) you can use a shorty or 3/2 full suit.
It's worth checking out if you want some fresh water kiting or a change of scenery from the usual Bay spots on N wind days. ;-)

What kind of launch conditions are there? Sand, rocks, depth, access, permission for kiters? A lot of people? Required kiter expertise: beginner, advanced, expert?
What's the wind like, when, and when is the season over?
